This week’s episode runs through a biotech tape that looks strong on the surface but starts to crack once you dig in. We’ve got Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk escalating the oral GLP-1 war with new launches that may expand the obesity market but are already showing signs of cannibalization, while pricing and access dynamics remain unresolved. At the same time, the FDA reopens scrutiny on mifepristone, reminding everyone that regulatory risk is never fully off the table, and delivers a second rejection to Replimune, reinforcing that weak trial design still kills programs regardless of narrative. Layered on top, Gilead Sciences is aggressively deploying capital into late-stage assets while Merck reprices a deal downward after softer data, showing just how sensitive valuations are to incremental updates. Tie it together with continued early-stage funding and shifting policy dynamics, and the picture is a market where capital is flowing, but only to assets that can withstand both clinical and commercial reality.
